Dragons heading to Spyglass and Poppy Hills for NCGA Associate Club Championship!

LIVERMORE, Calif., July 21, 2009 - The four-person team representing the Dragons Golf Club has advanced to the 2009 NCGA Associate Club Championship to be held at Spyglass and Poppy Hills, August 31-September 1. Carol Lee (101) and George Hsu (87) led the team today on Poppy Ridges' Zinfandel/Merlot course, with Chris Chong and Wes Chong contributing steady performances in support.
The NCGA Associate Club Championship is a best of two balls of four competition, now in its 27th year. The20Dragons GC team made it through the local qualifying at Deer Ridge on June 10, with a roster of Carol Lee, George Hsu, Chris Chong and Bobby Chang. 84 teams took part in the Sectionals today, with 30 advancing to the Championship finals in Pebble Beach. Club Captain Wes Chong stepped in for Bobby Chang at the Sectionals today at Poppy Ridge, as Bobby was called to attend a last-minute business meeting in New York.
As luck would have it -- or was it the great strategic thinking of Club board member Fuzzy Pourahmadi, who booked all of our tournaments -- the next tournament for the Dragons will be at Poppy Hills on August 9.
